My thoughts on Marriage Story (2019)

This is a good movie and I’m touched, so I have to drag my husband with me! :))

Film ini dimulai dengan indah, bagaimana Nicole (ScarJo) dan Charlie (Kylo Ren Adam Driver) menarasikan hal-hal positif mengenai satu sama lain. Adem yah dengernya. Keluarga mereka nampak bahagia, pernikahan mereka pun nampak sempurna. But, is it? Read More

Her Private Life

Sebenarnya pas awal menonton drama ini, saya merasakan vibe-nya What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (yang saya juga suka; Park Min-young memang queen of romance and chemistry!). Tapi, ternyata this is even better!

Nothing to Hide

nothing_to_hide-_publicity-h_2018

Read More

Drama Korea

Yakali kan late 20 jadi CEO padahal kerjanya ga ngapa-ngapain malah cinta-cintaan.

Well, gw selektif begini semua salah Goblin (?)! My Love from Another Star (Kim So Hyun, Jun Ji-hyun)). Atau cerita punya pacar siluman rubah ekor sembilan (red: My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (Shin Min-Ah)).

The Raid 2: Berandal (2014)

Jadi, kemarin ceritanya saya dan pacar pergi nonton The Raid, akhirnya. Yah whatever, go go go Indonesia deh! :D

raid 2 berandal first poster

Misalnya pas Cok Simbara bilang: “Gw mau lu bantu saya blablabla…” :))
  5. Sampai di kantor Pak Bangun (Tio Pakusadewo), kan Yuda digeledah dan dicek cek cek ya. Terus terus ternyata Iko Uwais chubby, ga tinggi tinggi banget dan badannya ga otot otot kering gitu. Kupikir… T_T
Bertele-tele banget, cem danlap lagi orasi.
Terus, kenapa itu Alex Abbad mukanya arab tapi panggilannya Bejo deh. -_-
  10. Hammer Girl dan Baseball Bat Boy keren keren kereeennnn. Kartun banget kayak nonton Kick-Ass! :D
  12. Final fighting scene-nya keren.
Emang dari film pertama kan katanya emang oke banget ya fighting-nya. Ga heran sih kalo producer Captain America: Winter Soldier ampe mengadopsi gaya berantem dari film The Raid.
Tapi, walaupun oke, lama-lama adegan berantem mulai ngebosenin dan berasa repetitif berhubung dari awal kerjaan berantem mulu.
Oh, setelah baca trivia di IMDB, gw baru ngeh kalo semua anak buah Bejo dibunuh dengan senjata mereka sendiri (hammer, baseball bat, mini celurit). Kewl.

Jadi terus endingnya gimana?

Misalnya suara kepala orang remuk, suara tonjok-tonjokan, suara baseball bat. Jelas banget! :D

Fyuhhh sekian deh review-review-annya. Overall menurut gw film ini kurang bagus.
Ya namanya juga selera orang kan beda-beda. :)

the purpose of life…

To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.

The Sign of Three

Was watching Sherlock S03E02 The Sign of Three just now. Looove this episode so much! So far, this is the funniest and most comical episode among the Sherlock series. :))

In this episode, I’m glad to see the other side of Sherlock-John and how their relationship strengthen. I also love to see Mary Watson. She’s clever and nice, and understand both John and Sherlock. She’s the perfect match for John. FYI, Mary is John’s wife in real life, not surprised if they have a great chemistry. ;)

And Molly. I think she’s not really moved on. I’m curious how their relationship will be going. But since there’s already a news that our detective would not be falling in love in this series, I can’t expect much for that. :p

Besides all of that, I think this episode is a bit saddening. Sherlock is already too attached with John. It must be hard for him to face this kind of situation, especially when he gives his last vow, doesn’t have a partner to dance with and left the party by himself into the dark. I’m pretty sure that the next episode will be dark.

Ugh, I’m too emotional. I’m laughing out loud at first, but ended up feeling pitiful. :”
Certainly, I would not miss the next episode, His Last Vow. Can’t wait!

Jaegers vs Kaiju \o/

Yesterday, I went to the cinema to watch either Despicable Me 2 or Pacific Rim. But, since Despicable Me 2 is sooo overrated, many people post about it in everywhere and talk about it like every day until I think I already know much and do not need to watch it again. Hmm ok, maybe next week.

So, I decided to watch Pacific Rim. And, I do not regret my choice! :D

pacific-rim-movie-banner-striker-eureka-jaeger-vs-kaiju

Pacific Rim is a science-fiction movie directed by Guillermo del Toro. The story is set in 2020 when Earth is struggling against Kaiju, giant beasts that risen from a portal beneath Pacific ocean. To fight Kaiju, some countries are joining in consortium called program Jaeger, a gigantic mecha that controlled by more than two pilot that connected through neural bridge.

At first, program Jaeger is successfully striving against Kaiju. But, Kaiju is evolving. They are becoming well-adapted to Jaegers’ combat style. They are also coming more frequent than before.

People may easily compare this movie to Transformers. IMO, it’s not the same.
Okay, I’m not a fan of robot movie, but Pacific Rim is great, imaginative and beyond my expectation. IMO, Pacific Rim is more like Japanese mecha like the one in Full Metal Panic!. Or Gundam. Maybe. Hmm actually, I never know much about Gundam. :p
And the monsters? They remind me of Godzilla or monsters in Ultraman.

There are four Jaegers that introduced in this movie: Gypsy Danger (USA), Striker Eureka (AUS), Crimson Typhoon (CHN) and Cherno Alpha (RUS). Each of them weight around 6000-7000 tons and height around 80-100 meters. And they fight Kaiju with equivalent size.

While watching the pilots driving the robots, I always think: oh my God, that must be hard to control giant robots. Look at them, they are like exercising a step-machine. The one I hated most at the gym! :p

BTW, watching this movie makes me feel like a kid again. I just whooaa at the cinema. It’s like childhood imaginations do come true. I think, the feeling is similar to when I watched Jurassic Park for the first time… Once again, I am not a fan of robot movie, but this one took a place in my heart. This is the movie that I would love to watch over and over again in the future. A movie that I will show to my future kids. *halah lebay* And yes, besides the intense battles, this movie is safe for kids.

Maybe this movie is not perfect. To be honest, I don’t think their acting is exceptional. But, it doesn’t matter because the battle scene is incredible. They don’t put focus on the city destruction, just focus on the battle between Jaeger and Kaiju. And my favorite goes to…Gypsy Danger vs Kaijus battle scene in Hong Kong bay! :D

So, if you are searching for summer blockbuster movie that is not remake or sequel, this one is really worth to watch!

Go big or go extinct!

A Wedding Invitation (2013)

I sometimes feel the need to go to cinema to watch not-popular-random-movie. So, few days ago, after a hectic day at office, I went to cinema and watched A Wedding Invitation, a Mandarin rom-com movie directed by South Korean director Oh Ki Hwan.

A-Wedding-Invitation-2013-17

The story starts with Lixing (Eddie Peng) and his girlfriend Qiaoqiao (Bai Baihe) happy relationship. But unfortunately, they must part. Qiaoqiao asks Lixing to break-up. She wants a diamond ring and a beautiful wedding dress that Lixing cannot afford yet. They make a break-up contract that if in five years neither of them is married, they will marry each other. Then, Qiaoqiao moves to Shanghai to become a ceramic artist while Lixing stays in Beijing to pursue his career as a chef.

Five years later, Qiaoqiao gets a call from Lixing invites her to his wedding reception. Apparently, Qiaoqiao still cannot move on from Lixing. She go straight to Beijing as soon as possible to sabotage the marriage and to get Lixing back.

As you guess, this part of movie will make you laughs and smiles watching their silliness to trick each other and make jealous. After few scenes, turns out that Lixing’s wedding is not real. He just need to do that to get her come to see him again. Yeay, happy ending!

When you think it’s over and happy ending, apparently it’s not.

Because of some medical issues, Qiaoqiao decides to leaves Lixing again. Actually, this is also the reason why she left him in the first place five years ago.
Sad and desperate, Lixing tries to figure it out and finally find out about Qiaoqiao’s conditions. Do not want to lose her anymore, finally Lixing asks her to marry him.

Yeay, happy ending!

Actually, mmm, no.

Yea, sometimes perfect relationship doesn’t mean to be together. :”

So, that’s it. I’m definitely fooled by this movie. After pairs of twist and hahaha-yeay-happy-ending moment, the movie ends with a melodrama. Not a sad ending, but not a happy one, too. *wipe tears, a lot of tears*
